New Officials Seminar Series July 12 - Aug 9, 2010

Rule 403b, 405a Interpretation from Dave LaBuda

The way we treat a goaltender is different than the way we treat a player in regards to the new major penalty rule regarding substitutions. If a goalkeeper receives a major penalty and a misconduct or a game misconduct his team must put a substitute player in the penalty box immediately (from players on the ice at the time of the infraction). The current rulebook situation on page143 (Situation 10) is incorrect and will be corrected within the next few weeks in a mass mailing to all officials.
